INSTITUTIONAL SEMINAR BY PROF. GALILEO VIOLINI
Abstract: Several latin american countries are promoting vigorous policies of scientific development. They include training, in particular at doctoral level, regional and international mobility and advanced research. Among the countries which have stronger programs is Ecuador, whose training and Prometeo programs constitute a model for the whole Subcontinent. Another region with interesting initiatives is Central America. These policies are often interrelated with broader regional integration policies, and have a strong connection with Trieste system. In this presentation we shall analyze the conditions in which such programs are developing and the perspectives of cooperation with European Union and in particular Italy, discussing somelights and shadows of the internationalization policy, which is promoted for Italian university and scientific system.
