"Open science for fair and sustainable access to knowledge" & “Open Science from A to Z” - May 2nd and 3rd

On May 2nd and 3rd, the SISSA Research Office is organizing two events, a seminar and a workshop, to promote the new European Open Science policies that have become mandatory also for the grant applications under the Horizon Europe Framework Program.

Both events will be held in English and are intended to all the scientific staff, professors, researchers, post-docs and students at SISSA.

Below, some hints to get an insight on the content:

Is Open Access and Open Science the same thing? Do we always have to pay to publish? What does EOSC, the European Open Science Cloud, offer? What about FAIR data? Do they really coincide with Open data?

These answers will be addressed in the two events, as follows:

May 2nd  2022 (h 14-15:30). A brief introduction and open discussion on the questions raised, (led by Dr. Elena Giglia, Head of the Open Access Unit of the University of Turin) followed by a seminar on "Open science for fair and sustainable access to knowledge" (by Dr. Stefano Bianco, INFN), and a final session of Q&A.

May 3rd 2022 (h 14-17:30) The workshop on “Open Science from A to Z” (by Dr. Elena Giglia, Head of the Open Access Unit of the University of Turin)  includes an in-depth study of the lessons learned during the pandemic, the Open Science practices and the tools to make each step of the research open, the new requirements of Horizon Europe and the drafting of a Data Management Plan.

Attendance to the events will be possible either physically or remotely. You will have to select your choice in the registration form that the Research Office will circulate shortly.

An attendance certificate will be issued upon request.
