Durante SISSA in Festa, John Nicholls, neuroscienziato, ha incuriosito il pubblico raccontando quali sono i meccanismi che ci consentono di riconoscere la differenza fra i suoni dei vari strumenti musicali, parlando poi delle conoscenze scientifiche sul meccanismo dell'udito più in generale.
A project coordinated by SISSA in Trieste and financed by the EU aims at developing new theoretical tools in the service of new frontiers in computation.
The European project Irses-Quantum Integrability, Conformal Field Theory and Topological Quantum Computation, coordinated by Giuseppe Mussardo of SISSA in Trieste, aims at developing new theoretical tools to be applied to frontiers in computation, to take a step further towards super-calculus and quantum computers.
Quattro modalità espressive - dipinti, fotografie, filmati e installazioni artistiche - da realizzare a scelta nell'ambito di uno dei quattro temi proposti: energia, cervello, ambiente, universo. Sono questi gli spazi espressivi del concorso organizzato dalla SISSA, in collaborazione con l'Università di Trieste. L'iniziativa, giunta alla sua terza edizione, si rivolge alle scuole medie superiori della provincia con l'intento di stimolare i giovani ad avvicinarsi al mondo della scienza, per raccontarla in modo inedito e originale.

The focus of the workshop is to connect people with a background spanning from Physics of Soft Tissues, Continuum Mechanics and Applied Mathematics. The workshop is supported by the projects MathLCEs and BrainIFEM, and will cover three specific applications in the areas of biological tissues in pathological conditions, and synthetic tissues.

We are honored to inform you about the International Workshop on Essential metals in brain development and neurodegeneration that will be held on May 21-22 2012 in Trieste (Italy).
The Workshop aims at gathering together researchers with different backgrounds, who are interested in the role of essential metals in brain development and neurodegeneration. Speakers are encouraged to address important open problems, stimulate discussion and interaction among participants.
