“AI: research and innovation in the territory” is the title of a session, curated by SISSA in collaboration with the iNEST Consortium, SMACT, and the Maritime Technology Cluster FVG, to be held on Saturday 19 October at 11:30 a.m. at the P. Maurensig Immersive Theater in Tavagnacco (UD). This is one of the events of the first edition of “Artificial Intelligence Forum: Generative Cities and Contemporary Societies”, a new scientific festival entirely focused on artificial intelligence and society, scheduled from 18 to 20 October.
The festival is organized by DITEDI and the Municipality of Tavagnacco and promoted by Nord Est Multimedia, with the collaboration of SISSA, PsicoAttività, and the University of Udine. The Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and “Io Sono Friuli Venezia Giulia” have provided their contribution as well. Moreover, among the supporters of the festival are the iNEST Consortium and the SISSA start-up FAST Computing.
The session, curated by SISSA, will be divided into two roundtables: “AI, research, and ecosystems” and “AI and industry 4.0”. In the first roundtable, Gianluigi Rozza - professor in Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing at SISSA’s Mathematics area - will engage in dialogue with Angelo Montanari, President of the Italian Chapter of the European Association for Theoretical Computer Science, Gianfranco Marconi, co-director of the Research Center of Danieli Group, and Carlo Urbanet, Head of Simulations of Electrolux. The second one will feature contributions from Matteo Faggin, General Director of SMACT, Simonetta Greco, Cluster Manager of Maritime Technology Cluster FVG, Marco Ometto, Executive Vice President of Danieli Automation DIGI&MET and member of the Board of Directors of the European Steel Technology Platform, and Michele Toppano, Head of Sensors and AI at Electrolux.
Altogether, the event will focus on the crucial role that research and innovation in AI play in enhancing the industrial and academic fabric of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. The advantages of collaboration between universities and companies will be highlighted, as well as the importance of local institutions and innovation platforms in creating a favorable ecosystem for scientific and industrial growth.
To take part in the session, it is necessary to sign up on the Eventbrite platform.
In addition to this event, the festival will host the Hackathon Generative Cities, a challenge inviting teams of innovators to design creative solutions for the smart cities of the future, using advanced artificial intelligence technologies. The projects presented will be evaluated by a jury, which will select the winners.
The AI Forum will not only be an opportunity to discuss the technological future of the region but also a meeting point for young talents, academics, and professionals in the field. The festival will offer a rich and varied program, including numerous public conferences, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities, contributing to strengthening the link between research, innovation, and economic development.
