6 February 2026 – Today, the SISSA community gathered for a brief moment of remembrance in solidarity with all those affected by the tragic events currently unfolding in Iran. The gathering took place at 2:00 pm at the ground‑floor entrance, where students, staff, and faculty joined together in a brief moment of remembrance.
SISSA has been following with deep concern the serious situation in Iran and the suffering it is causing, including the loss of life and its impact on students, scholars, and universities.
SISSA wishes to express its sincere closeness and solidarity to members of our community who are directly or indirectly affected, especially our Iranian students and scholars, and to their families and loved ones. We also wish to express our closeness to our peers in universities and research centres in Iran—students, scholars, and colleagues, who are facing profound disruption and uncertainty in their daily lives and academic work. Our thoughts are with the people of Iran as well.
As an academic community, we reaffirm our commitment to human dignity and to fundamental rights, including freedom of thought and expression. We condemn all forms of violence and suppression. SISSA is committed to turning solidarity into practical support and, together with the relevant offices and services, is working on concrete measures to assist members of our community who are affected.
