More than €2.4 million have been awarded to develop a new generation of high-performance scientific computing software capable of integrating cutting-edge mathematical methods and artificial intelligence. This is the funding granted to FAST Computing under the EIC Transition programme of the European Innovation Council.

The award recognizes the young company founded within SISSA – the International School for Advanced Studies in Trieste and its SISSA mathLab, while also highlighting the quality and ambition of the proposed project, entitled SpeedAPP (High-Speed AI-Driven Engineering Simulations for Advanced Product Development).

The competition was extremely selective: 661 proposals from across Europe were submitted to EIC Transition, but only 40 were funded—just over 6% of the total. SpeedAPP is among the selected projects.

Through this initiative, FAST Computing aims to develop a new generation of high-performance scientific computing software designed to make numerical simulations faster, more reliable, and usable in real time. The expected applications span a wide range of fields, from pharmacology and transportation to economics.

The FAST Computing team commented: “The EIC Transition funding represents a strategic recognition of the continuity between excellent ERC-funded research and industrial impact. With SpeedAPP, we aim to create a platform that makes AI truly reliable for scientific computing, transforming numerical simulation into an everyday operational tool for industry”.
