On 29 January 2025, at 6:00 PM, the presentation of the book "Dio gioca a dadi con il mondo. La storia della meccanica quantistica", published by Castelvecchi Editore, will take place at Libreria Ubik in Trieste.

What is matter? This question has fascinated and troubled some of the brightest minds of the 20th century: Max Planck, Albert Einstein, Niels Bohr, Erwin Schrödinger, Werner Heisenberg, Max Born, Wolfgang Pauli, and Paul Dirac dedicated their lives to exploring the essence of physical reality. Through complex equations and groundbreaking experiments, these scientists brought quantum mechanics to life – a theory that revealed a microscopic universe governed by probability. An outcome that Einstein found unacceptable, rejecting its philosophical implications.

A century after its complete formulation, Giuseppe Mussardo traces the story of this extraordinary scientific revolution, focusing on its key figures and the places where it all began. From the quiet colleges of Cambridge to the cliffs of Helgoland, the book weaves together adventure-worthy biographies and passionate letters, offering a tribute to an irreplaceable era in science.

The presentation will be moderated by science journalist Chiara Sabelli.
