"Having made a crucial contribution to the development of mathematical models that enable real-time, highly accurate simulations of complex systems—reduced-order models—for applications in computational fluid dynamics, the branch of physics that describes fluid behavior through numerical computation algorithms." With this motivation, the U.S. SIAM (Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics) has announced today the designation of Gianluigi Rozza, professor of numerical analysis and scientific computing at SISSA (International School for Advanced Studies), as a Fellow. This program recognizes a select group of individuals who, through their research achievements and impact within the scientific community, have contributed to the advancement of applied mathematics, computational science, and data science. Before Rozza, who joins the program as part of the Class of 2025, only six other Italian mathematicians had achieved this honor, with just two of them working in Italy.
