How can communication be made more effective in academic and professional settings? And how can misunderstandings and conflicts be prevented in high-performance teams? These are the questions addressed by “The Empathy Algorithm”, a workshop promoted as part of SISSA’s wellbeing initiatives.
Based on the principles of Nonviolent Communication (NVC), developed by psychologist Marshall Rosenberg, the workshop provides practical tools to navigate the complexity of professional relationships and foster clearer, more collaborative interactions.
Through an interactive format, participants will work on key skills such as separating facts from judgements, identifying underlying needs, and formulating effective requests. The workshop follows a four-step framework – observation, feelings, needs, and request – designed to improve clarity and enhance the quality of communication.
The session will be led by Vid Tratnik, coordinator of the PRO-BEN Project’s activities at SISSA, with extensive experience in leadership training, organisational wellbeing, and soft skills development.
Two sessions are available, one in Italian and one in English:
- Wednesday 3 June, 14:30–16:30 (in Italian)
- Thursday 4 June, 14:30–16:30 (in English)
The workshop will take place in the Big Meeting Room (7th floor).
The workshop lasts 120 minutes and is open to the entire SISSA community, with no prerequisites. Places are limited to 18 participants and registration is required. In agreement with the Human Resources Office, this activity counts towards the work commitment for PTAs.
