Applications are now open for the 2025–2026 edition of the Master in Data Management and Curation (MDMC), the postgraduate specialization program promoted by Area Science Park and SISSA. The program trains a new generation of professionals specialized in advanced data management, following the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).
Born from the collaboration between two leading institutions in the Italian scientific landscape, the MDMC is aimed at graduates (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent degrees) who wish to acquire both theoretical and practical skills essential to addressing the challenges of Open Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Governance in research and industry contexts.
The program, which lasts a total of 10 months and is entirely taught in English, includes 8 weeks of intensive in-person classes in Trieste, a six-month practical internship in partner laboratories and institutions, and a final thesis project. Its teaching approach stands out for its “FAIR-by-design” methodology, which incorporates the practical application of the FAIR principles from the earliest stages of data design. Graduates will be prepared for versatile roles such as Data Steward, Data Curator, Data Engineer, and Research Data Manager.
Applications are open until 20 August 2025. Selection will be based on the evaluation of qualifications and, if necessary, an online interview. Significant financial benefits are available for outstanding candidates, including full waivers of the €4,500 tuition fee and financial support of up to €3,000.
