SISSA WOMEN IN MATHEMATICS

The new edition of SISSA Women in Mathematics will take place on Monday, 14 April 2025 at 2:15 PM. The event is organised annually by the SIAM Chapter SISSA to coincide with the birthday of Maryam Mirzakhani, the first woman to receive the Fields Medal. Its aim is to foster dialogue among women researchers in mathematics, offering insights both to early-career students and to more experienced members of the academic community.

The programme includes a round table discussion on the role of women in mathematical research, followed by three scientific talks given by SISSA alumnae who are now established academics. This year’s speakers are:

  • Veronica Felli (University of Milano Bicocca), Neumann eigenvalues in domains with small holes
  • Roberta Ghezzi (University of Rome “Tor Vergata”), Regularity theory and geometry of unbalanced optimal transport
  • Annamaria Ortu (University of Gothenburg), Kähler geometry and fibrations

The event will be held in hybrid format. Online participation is available via Zoom at the following link: https://sissa-it.zoom.us/j/81185945260?pwd=AT9yrnysuKmpnsc7aAN42O0gjcSWSZ.1
