“The SISSA we know today is largely due to the innovative ideas and actions of Daniele Amati, who was its director for 15 years, starting from 1986. Daniele left CERN, attracted by the optimism and the ability to achieve his goals, of the founder of SISSA, Paolo Budinich. After a few years of indecision, Daniele was convinced to stay, persuaded by the possibility of carrying out a project that has proven itself to be particularly innovative over the years. Daniele shaped SISSA with his vision, extraordinary intuition, his ability to value people and, last but not least, an exceptional humanity.” School’s Director Stefano Ruffo celebrates the 90th anniversary of an important figure of SISSA and last century physics with these words.
