
SISSA is pleased to announce the call for nominations for the Antonio Ambrosetti Medal, an award established in memory of Antonio Ambrosetti, a distinguished mathematician and professor at SISSA from 1980 to 1983, at Scuola Normale Superiore from 1986 to 1998, and again at SISSA from 1998 to 2012. The medal is awarded every two years to exceptionally promising young researchers who have made outstanding contributions to the field of nonlinear analysis.
The award is supported by SISSA, Fondazione Pietro Pittini, Scuola Normale Superiore, the Unione Matematica Italiana (UMI), and the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei.
Eligibility criteria
Candidates of any nationality must have defended their PhD thesis in the calendar year of the award or within the preceding 12 years. The eligibility period is extended by two years per child in cases of maternity.
Nomination process
Nominations may be submitted by researchers active in the fields relevant to the award. Self-nominations and nominations by PhD advisors are not accepted. Nominations must be sent to click to show emailno later than 30 August 2025 (UTC+1).
Award details
The recipient of the Antonio Ambrosetti Medal will receive a medal, a monetary prize of 5,000 euros (gross) funded by Fondazione Pietro Pittini, and an allowance for travel and accommodation to attend the award ceremony at SISSA. The ceremony will take place on 21 November 2025 during the conference "New frontiers in nonlinear analysis and differential equations."
